In the city of Tempe, Arizona, where the bustling of life never seems to slow down, finding a peaceful refuge from the urban clamor is needed. To provide quiet and tranquility for tenants, the owner of The Local Apartments chose to invest in sound-reducing replacement windows. They partnered with Pella of Arizona to get the job done right.
Noise-Resistant Windows Offer Peace and Quiet
The goal was that every apartment unit facing University Drive would have windows with a minimum Sound Transmission Class (STC) rating of 35. The STC rating is a measure of the amount of sound blocked by windows, doors and other building materials. The owner's objective to achieve a minimum rating of 35 for these windows was no small feat, but Pella was up to the challenge. We were able to achieve the goal by changing the existing Impervia windows to Reserve windows with laminated glass. Laminated glass features a polymer layer sandwiched between two layers of glass to cut outside noise. This replacement project transformed the soundscape of The Local Apartments, contributing to much quieter and peaceful living spaces for apartments overlooking such a busy road.
Laminated Glass Adds Security and Energy Efficiency
The laminated glass not only blocks external noises but also adds an extra layer of security and energy efficiency to these apartment units. The layers help block harmful UV rays from entering the apartment units, which helps with temperature control and prevents flooring and furniture from fading. Plus, the strong interlayer of impact-resistant glass adds protection against intruders and storms. The glass holds together even if it shatters, making tenants feel safer living in this busy, metropolitan setting.
Black Windows Further Urban Aesthetic
Pella Reserve windows not only check the boxes for sound, efficiency and security performance, but they also exceed expectations in terms of aesthetics and functionality. The new black windows blend right in with the style of the apartment units. With white walls as the backdrop, these black windows offer striking contrast and frame the city landscape beyond. Furthering the trendy vibe of these apartments, modern windows welcome natural light in and make each apartment unit feel homey and inviting.
The owner of this apartment complex made a worthwhile investment that completely transformed the living experience of their tenants. This replacement project is more than just an acoustic achievement; it’s a testament to how windows can truly enhance the quality of urban living. The new windows make it possible for residents to enjoy the best of both worlds — the energy of the city and the peace of their own space.
