Downtown Memphis is seeing a revival. New neighborhoods are being built on the south and north sides of downtown. Luxury apartments, townhomes and sprawling houses are currently being built or remodeled in Memphis’ downtown area. Extreme investments are also being made to make downtown more family-oriented and a hip spot for a younger crowd. The hope is that people across all demographics will enjoy the new development happening in downtown Memphis.
According to the Memphis Flyer, The Carlisle Corporation has made a $1.5 million investment into the first Americans with Disabilities accessible walkway that connects the bluff in Downtown Memphis to the riverfront at Tom Lee Park. Chance Carlisle, CEO of Carlisle LLC, told the flyer, “With the exception of maybe a month or so in May, Tom Lee Park was sort of an afterthought, rather than a signature riverfront. It’s hard to be a great riverfront city without an excellent front door, and what Memphis River Parks has done, and all the donors, is really give Memphians a park that we can be proud of, for all of Memphis.”
The more luxurious homes are being built by contractors using only Pella Windows and Doors. One contractor shared that he uses Pella Windows or Doors to give their homes a more elegant and refined look. We take pride in the quality craftsmanship we use to build these windows.
Another reason you see more Pella windows downtown is that many downtown homeowners want a statement home. Usually, a statement home includes large picture windows to see the view of the river and specialty windows throughout the house. Downtown homeowners don't want cookie-cutter, suburb-style homes. Instead, unique and stylish architecture dominates the available properties downtown.
We recently had the pleasure of helping with a remodel in the north area of downtown Memphis, called Harbor Town. Some of Memphis's most prominent families call Harbor Town "home." The neighborhood, within walking distance of the river, has the appearance of a quaint village with its own small grocery store and cafés. The remodel we undertook needed multiple windows replaced, which we did with our energy-efficient windows.
Are you ready to make the leap and move downtown to experience all the area has to offer? Many residents will tell you that you cannot beat the beautiful views, especially if you are watching the sun rise or set over the river.
Whether you want to call downtown home or prefer to be a visitor, Pella can help you experience better views in your home.
