Last summer, Pella Windows & Doors of Omaha and Lincoln helped a historic building find new life, assuring it will endure well into the future. The Nebraska City Veterans Memorial Building now serves as both a tribute to veterans and a nonprofit community center for the people of Nebraska City and Otoe County.
Pella installers replaced more than 120 windows and doors with custom Architect Series products. The results were aesthetically beautiful and also true to the structure’s 1929 architecture.
At the ribbon-cutting ceremony in August, Pella Trade General Manager Vince Boulay presented a $50,000 donation from the company in honor of the late Ted Beilman, who had inspired the project and served as its executive director. “This was a labor of love,” Boulay said. “There was a lot of passion in it.”
“(Pella) didn’t just view it as a contract. They came over and saw what this building meant to us, and they embraced that,” Nebraska City Mayor Bryan Bequette said. “And they took it on as they were part of the family.”
