Once again, we're letting you get to know one of our employees a little better with our People of Pella series.
This time, we're introducing you to Joe Dost, a newer member of the Pella team who's working "up north," as we like to say. Pella Windows and Doors of Wisconsin also works with contractors in Upper Michigan.
That's Joe's territory.
He's a former college football player and family man who's made a home in the U.P. Here's more about Joe.
Title: Upper Peninsula Sales Representative
Duties: Works within the Pella Trade Division in outside sales.
Responsible for helping Upper Michigan builders and contractors determine what offerings from Pella Windows and Doors of Wisconsin are the best fit for their projects.
Describe what you do for Pella Windows and Doors of Wisconsin.
My role with Pella is to provide the architects, builders and contractors of the Upper Peninsula with solutions to their window and door needs. The goal is to help them from conception, through the completion of the project. I really enjoy the design phase where we can make the windows a showpiece for the entire home.
How long have you lived in Upper Michigan?
I am not originally from the Upper Peninsula but have lived here since 2003 when I moved to Marquette to play football (and go to school) at Northern Michigan University. We spent three years living back downstate from 2011-2014 but I have been up here for 9 years total.
What do you feel is the most rewarding thing about working for Pella?
So far, the most rewarding thing about working for Pella has been the chance to convert people from prospects to customers while building a relationship with them along the way. It feels good when a builder trusts you to provide a solution for their customers.
How do you spend your free time in Upper Michigan?
I use my free time to stay active. As a washed up athlete, I play Men's League basketball in the winter and Beer League softball in the summer. I like to hunt, fish, and snowmobile when the time is there. I wouldn't call myself a true carpenter yet, more of a weekend warrior in the home improvement area, but I enjoy doing that as well.
What are you looking forward to most in your life heading into 2016?
What I am looking forward to most in 2016 is raising and watching my two boys grow up. Cooper will be 5 in April, and Wyatt just turned 2 in December. They keep us busy and there is never a dull moment around either of them.
My wife and I will celebrate our 5th year of marriage, so hopefully, I can take her somewhere warm to celebrate our anniversary.
