Brightening up your home can be done in a multitude of ways — from replacing dark wood on your floors or paint on your walls to simply decorating with lighter accessories. Usually, what you need to do to brighten your space depends heavily on just how dark your current space is and just how light or bright you’d like it to be. One of the best ways to brighten an especially dark area in your home is to replace the windows or doors within that space. You might not think this is a very effective method as, if you already have a window there, how will replacing it with another window create more light? Other than being able to and possibly having the option to expand the opening of your window, simply choosing a more modern or sleek window with additional glass in it can greatly improve the light let into your home.

Additionally, some homeowners choose to install windows where there once weren’t any in order to let more light into an extremely dark area of their home, or we see some homeowners who choose to forego windows altogether. If the area you’re looking to brighten is your kitchen, dining room, or living room, you might be able to replace a set of your windows with a sliding patio door. Sliding patio doors are mostly glass and can double or triple the amount of natural light let into a home.

You can also have more control over the light and brightness of your room by replacing your old windows with new windows featuring between-the-glass-blinds. While this might not directly let more light into your space, it will allow you more control over the light coming into your space, which is a huge benefit in and of itself.
