Reflecting on 2020 and Looking Ahead to 2021

posted on November 17, 2020 in Pella Windows & Doors of Dallas

2020 has certainly been a roller coaster of a year, bringing changes to our lives that no one could have ever anticipated. Social distancing, masks, quarantine and Zoom calls have all become commonplace in a world going through an unprecedented pandemic. Even with all this uncertainty, 2020 has taught us that you should never bet against the human spirit and that we will always come together to adapt and overcome.

Pella Windows & Doors of Dallas-Fort Worth recently had the opportunity to take part in a trade show that demonstrated just how events can be held today with health and safety in mind. Originally scheduled back in March, the Dallas Build Expo just finished their North Texas Tour here in late October. Designers, builders, engineers and vendors all flocked to Dallas Market Hall to share products and industry knowledge.

The event was designed with COVID in mind and featured temperature checks to enter, designated walking paths, spaced out seating, masks and of course enough sanitizer to fill up a small Texas reservoir. All things considered, we felt the event was a great success. But perhaps the most rewarding part of the trade show was being able to get back together with some of our colleagues and share some of our experiences from the last year.

With the promising news of a vaccine on the horizon, we would expect to see more shows getting queued up in 2021 with some, if not all of these precautions in place. Maybe we are being optimistic or a little naïve to the speed at which the world will return some sense of normalcy, but then again 2020 reminds us never to underestimate the power of our collective minds and has shown that we can overcome difficult times together.
