Project Details

Charlotte, North Carolina has something for everyone. The booming city is known for its incredible sports teams, food scene and tree-lined streets. The homeowner of this Charlotte brick ranch in a lush neighborhood was in dire need of new, energy-efficient windows. The original wood windows, more than 50 years old, were drafty and rotting on the exterior. Pella of North Carolina was happy to help transform the energy efficiency and look of the home.

Fiberglass Windows Add Durability and Upgrade Curb Appeal

After dealing with rot and drafty windows, the homeowners were insistent that their new windows be extra durable. We recommended they choose fiberglass windows for their remodel. Pella Impervia windows are made from our proprietary fiberglass, the strongest material for windows and patio doors.9 It will never rot or corrode and experiences virtually no expansion and contraction. This means that the homeowners can rest assured there is reduced risk for seal failure, drafts and leaks.

The homeowners wanted to change the entire look of their home. They decided to swap their traditional white windows with black shutters for bold black windows with no shutters. The minimal look coupled with a bold black hue, adds a modern touch to this quaint brick home. Featuring grilles-between-the-glass in a traditional pattern, the sleek new windows maintain a traditional aesthetic. These grilles are safely located in between the glass panels, meaning the windows are easy to clean and the grilles are protected from dust and damage.

Kitchen Window Opens Home to Backyard

Unlike on the front of the home, the homeowner opted for a more modern look in the back. They chose to change two small windows into one large picture window that overlooks the backyard. By eliminating the traditional grille pattern at the back and maximizing glass, the kitchen window now fills the home with natural light and makes the modest kitchen feel larger.

The homeowners couldn't be happier with the change in efficiency and style this project has brought to their home.
