Project Details

Durham, North Carolina is the fourth largest city in the state and is home to both Duke University and North Carolina Central University. With a rich history dating back to 1853, Durham, North Carolina has seen decades of growth and revitalization. This Durham homeowner was looking to refresh their entryway with an updated, energy-efficient fiberglass entry door. Having recently remodeled the home’s exterior using sleek black windows, they wanted the transformation to continue to the front door. They called Pella of North Carolina to replace their tired, yellow front door with one to match the new, contemporary black and white style.

Frosted Glass Maintains Home’s Privacy

The previous front door was solid and did not allow any light into the entryway of the home. Wanting light, the homeowner added a full glass storm door. This gave them the light they desired, but none of the privacy they needed. For the replacement we recommended a beautiful black front door with custom glass panels. The obscure privacy glass (also known as frosted glass) allows for natural light to enter into the home while maintaining a level of privacy for the homeowner.

Energy-Efficient Fiberglass Door Enhances Home’s Comfort

Having dealt with drafts in the past, the homeowner wanted to make sure the new door could withstand the elements. Their new fiberglass front door is exceptionally durable. It resists warping and withstands extreme weather, like the tropical cyclones that North Carolina experiences, beautifully. With a rot-resistant composite frame, the low-maintenance system delivers years of high performance and energy efficiency.

Overall, the homeowner is thrilled with the new front door. It beautifully completes their exterior remodel and delivers the privacy and energy efficiency they desired.
