Project Details

Located about 35 miles east of Oklahoma City, Shawnee serves as a hub for the surrounding areas which are predominantly rural. This Shawnee homeowner desired a brighter, more inviting interior with energy-efficient, operable windows and doors. Replacing the windows and doors throughout their home completely transformed both the aesthetic and functionality.

Energy-Efficient Windows and Doors Brighten Interior

Hearing the homeowner's wishes, the Pella of Oklahoma team made it our mission to create an ambiance filled with light while prioritizing energy efficiency. To achieve this, we recommended large fiberglass casement windows and picture windows. The material is known for its strength and exceptional energy efficiency. Offering remarkable insulation properties, fiberglass windows provide stability by minimizing expansion and contraction. This not only enhances energy efficiency but also reduces the likelihood of seal failure. The new windows are also weather-resistant and can withstand large temperature swings. On windy, hot and humid days in Oklahoma, these benefits are highly valuable to the homeowner.

An aluminum-clad wood patio door was also incorporated into the design. As a natural insulator, wood adds another layer of energy efficiency. This helps reduce utility bills, aligning with the homeowner's desire for energy savings. By selecting high-quality fiberglass and wood products, this replacement project offers both visual appeal and long-term efficiency.

Sliding Doors Open Living Room to Backyard

A true game-changer was the introduction of a large sliding door in the living room. Compared to the existing double doors, the new 4-panel system lets in significantly more natural light. The flood of sunlight not only transforms the living room ambiance, but also the overall feel of the home. The entire space looks brighter and airier, contributing to a more inviting atmosphere. Speaking of inviting, this space is now better equipped for entertaining guests as well. The sliding glass doors part open in the middle, extending the living room into the backyard.

Black Patio Door and Windows Beautifully Contrast White Walls

While performance and functionality were the key goals of this replacement project, the added visual appeal was a bonus. The black patio door and windows offer stark contrast against the interior white walls and exterior white brick. The original white windows and door blended into the space, whereas the new products add a pop of design interest. The black products frame the outdoors, adding beauty to the home. The traditional grille pattern on the new products also add character to the home, furthering the style of farmhouse windows and doors.

As this project unfolded, the homeowner’s excitement was evident. The updated look, highlighted by the striking contrast between the black window frames and the white walls, breathes new life into the home. The combination of aesthetics and functionality, with the careful selection of energy-efficient materials, proves how a well-planned window and door upgrade can change the entire atmosphere of a home.
