POSTED ON August 01, 2016 in Seattle Projects Pella Windows and Doors of Seattle replaced wood fixed windows and awnings that had been installed as a previous replacement project. The project was initiated as a “Life Safety” upgrade to keep students and staff safe in case of fire. The larger intent was to return the school to its historic grandeur of the 1920s. An alternate bid, which was ultimately approved, included replacement of the remaining windows. The project specifications called for wood exterior windows. Because of Pella’s ability to mimic the historic nature of the original windows using Clad Exterior products, the windows were replaced using Aluminum Clad Wood windows providing the school district a finished project that doesn’t require exterior paint for protection. The new Pella windows were manufactured with Low-Emissivity Glass and Argon, allowing the building to perform better in the typical Northwest US climate. The factory-built complete windows are engineered so the frame, sashes and weather stripping work in unison keeping air infiltration to a minimum. The technology also helps keep the heating and cooling costs down, which benefits the Tacoma School District and its taxpayers.Visitors to Stadium High School now see a beautiful, usable building that provides a safe environment for its occupants.
