An Idaho duo who have a popular home improvement blog have transformed a dated porch into a chic dining area with the support of configurable Pella® French doors.
Chris and Julia Marcum, who have refreshed several of their family’s houses, said in a blog post they got started thinking about updates for the space they toured the home last summer. The couple said they saw using the expansive area to entertain friends and family as they get together for meals.
The couple said the room “added valuable living space and square footage to our home that we are excited to use year-round, but we definitely see summer dinner parties, with all the doors open to the patio and the flow from inside to out being magical.”
In its preceding use, the interior porch had a combination of doors—outdated brown French doors and sliding glass doors.
Today, most of the doors have been replaced with black Pella® Architect Series® Reserve™ French doors. Since this line features very customizable products, the Marcums were able to select the ideal door to complement their residence.
That space is now a modern dining room. A sleek appearance has replaced the outdated brick-and-brown décor.
While the room is big, it’s made cozier with oversized drum lighting fixtures and a luxurious double-sided fireplace. A floating credenza, oak dining tables and leather chairs bring together the look.
