Name: Jane Schetter
How long have you been with Pella? Since September 15, 2009 as a temp; hired December 31, 2009.
Tell us about your role at Pella. What is your job and what do you do? My job is to welcome guests to our showroom in Green Bay; answer and direct phone calls and mail/packages to the proper person, maintain organization directories and schedules and other administrative projects. My greatest challenge is to accurately determine what services or resources each person needs rather than what they ask for. Communication is one of the most powerful tools that we have and it must be used with discretion, intelligence and expediency.
What is your favorite part about working for Pella? Why? I tend to be a problem solver and through interaction with our guests I try to assist them in solving whatever issue they bring to our showroom. Whether it is the exciting and sometimes foreign process of building a new home to obtaining a new latch for a broken door. I get to work with a talented and creative group of team members who work to deliver a highly satisfied customer who has been wowed by the experience of working with our team.
If a customer asked you why you chose to work for Pella, what would you say? Exceptional products, exemplary service, dedicated employees, excellent management along with a welcoming and fun employee atmosphere.
Name a project that you have worked on that you are the most proud of? Establishing a series of directories and information to help us serve both internal and external customers.
What do you like to do in your free time, especially during the summer months? Summer will find me exploring many of our parks, golf courses and beaches; continuing my church and Lions work along with precious time with family and friends.
Anything else you want to add that you’d like to share about yourself? I have had a unique experience of having worked in many roles in government for 33 years, then non-profit and now private sector. I have found that I enjoy interactions with people and have learned to treat each person with respect and in the manner I would wish to be treated. Whether clerking a jury trial; presenting a petition to the Supreme Court, comforting a frightened flyer, assisting a victim of a crime or helping a customer get the parts needed to fix an issue before a family event in their home. I have aspired to treat each person with care and respect and I have found that treatment alone can make all the difference to that person at that time!
